About Us

At 114 W 2nd St in Ottawa, Kansas, the local chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has been doing the quiet, unglamorous work that actually holds a community together. Members describe joining and immediately finding a room full of kind, caring, giving people. That's not marketing copy. That's a direct quote from someone who walked through the door a short time ago.

The Lodge hosts everything from private parties and wedding receptions to civic meetings and community fundraisers. The main event space upstairs is a genuine gathering hall, roomy enough for a crowd and personal enough that you still feel like you belong. Yes, there are stairs to get there, so if mobility is a concern, call ahead and the membership will work with you.

This is a fraternal organization built on four pillars: charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity. Every dollar raised through Lodge events circles back to local causes, veterans' programs, and youth scholarships. If you're looking for a place to plug in and actually make a difference in Ottawa, KS, this is it.

What We Offer

The Lodge offers members and guests a dedicated event space suitable for receptions, birthday parties, retirement celebrations, and organizational meetings. The upstairs hall can be reserved for private functions, making it one of the more affordable and community-rooted venue options in Franklin County.

Beyond the venue, membership unlocks access to community service programs, including scholarship funds for local students, veterans' outreach, and charitable giving campaigns. The Lodge regularly organizes volunteer events where members roll up their sleeves alongside neighbors.

New members go through a straightforward induction process and are welcomed into a calendar of social events, dinners, and Lodge nights that make it easy to build real friendships. Whether you're a lifelong Ottawa resident or new to town, the Elks give you an immediate community with purpose behind it.

"I'm getting older, so stairs are more difficult for me to take. It is a great place for events such as parties, receptions, or meetings. To get to the large room, however, you must walk through cigarette smoke, which is disgusting to me. If you are part of a large group, parking may be a problem."

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
